I love how wonderful and synchronous life can be. Back in 2000 I made a film called the Shag Harbour UFO Incident. I write about it in my March blog postings. Today, I am in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Sitting in a beautiful seaside setting, doing some work on my laptop (Wireless Internet is truly a grace). In pops an email.
Hey there Michael,
We met years ago during your Marla days and I now have a weird request.
I have a friend who is married to a guy from California - he contacted her on Plenty of Fish after he saw your Shag Harbour film and wanted to meet someone who lived nearby. They fell in love and the rest is history.
He now lives in Halifax on Smith Street and would love to meet you to talk about Shag Harbour ... he's an interesting guy himself who spent years in the music and acting biz. His dad is one of the Smothers Brothers.
If you're cool with meeting him let me know and I will pass on the contact info.
Have a great day!

As I stroll over to the pool to recount this synchronistic happening to my girlfriend, I am struck by the thought that if I never made The Shag Harbour UFO Incident, it is possible that the two people in the email may never have met. If they have children, in a weird way, my film would become like a kindly strange uncle who introduced their parents. Isn't life incredible? One never knows how their actions impact others. Even when thousands of miles apart.
I always liked the Smothers Brothers TV show.

You're in Puerto Rico? Lucky bastard!
Ditto on you being a lucky bastard. I also enjoyed watching the Smothers Brother Show and wonder if that was Tommy or Dicky's son? I love it when something like your film can have a positive effect on others.
Yes Mac I am! I love how you get the heat without the humidity, yet still be by the ocean. at home we get a lot of dew at night. Messy stuff!
