I ran across this recent sighting in North Hollywood. There's an interesting Youtube clip available to watch. Although it does have some of the characteristics of a classic UFO sighting, I cannot help wonder whether we are looking at one of those silver odd-shaped balloons reflecting sunlight as it tumbles in the thermals. (The music in the video does not inspire much confidence either!)Watch the YouTube Video here.

The "tumbling" you note in the video above is pretty suspicious. I'm guessing it's a balloon. I wonder if something like this could pose a hazard to aircraft.
If it is a balloon I don't think it's high enough to bother air traffic. The usual police choppers ofer LA are at 1000 feet agl on average. Even if the balloon was at 1000 feet - which would actually be a stretch in terms of visualizing a standard 2 foot balloon - it would pose virtually no hazard for an aircraft, unless it got stuck on the pilot's windscreen.
On contemplation I would venture to say the choppers actually fly between 800 and 1000 feet above-ground-level. sometimes you can almost see the brand of coffee they are drinking.
